Author Interview - PG Van

The Book Club welcomes bestselling author of multiple contemporary romance novels, Ms. P. G. Van. Her characters are memorable with sizzling chemistry and adorable stories. Her books are a treat for all romance readers. So let us hear Ms. Van share some interesting and new tid bits about herself and her literary works.

Q. How long did it take you to write this book?
The inception of the story was in 2015 but I put the story away because the timing didn't feel right. Years later, when I saw a picture of six little girls dance, I knew it was time to write ’Dance With Me’. From the time I wrote my outline to draft completion it was around 2 months. And just like my other books I wrote 30% of the book over one weekend. That craziness of cramming all that writing into a couple of days is unfortunately is not something I am able to get out of and I don't know if I should.

Q. Tell us something about the main character/characters of this book?
The story is about Suhana a simple, shy woman who accepted her life the way it was until she found out her husband of thirteen years was cheating on her. She is a housewife who was dependent on her husband for everything but she gathered the courage to get out of a love less marriage. She was hurt from a relationship and did not want to even consider starting another, especially when a video of hers was going viral on the internet. She panics at first about the video but eventually finds her way out of her shell to step under the spotlight. Samyan is a man every woman dreams about having in her life and for Suhana he is perfect. He is army strong but he makes her heart melt. I absolutely enjoyed writing their initial interactions.

Q. Is this book based on any real life experiences or those of someone you know?
This story came to life when I was in my kitchen dancing to the music booming in the house and realized my window was open. I wondered what people would think if they saw me move to the music and I thought, I should write a story based on that moment and Dance With Me came to life.

Q. How do you keep your writing different from the other authors in the genre?
I would say my stories are contemporary romances with a drama aspect to them and I know many other authors who write in the same genre. I think all authors have their own style of writing and I just have mine. For those who have met me or conversed with me know, how I write is how I talk. I write what comes to my mind, my characters will sometimes say what I would say in that situation. That probably makes it different?

Q. What are you writing next?
Working on 2 stories not sure which one will get published first. Both contemporary romances, one is more of a romantic comedy and the other a romantic suspense.
